Ryan has practiced criminal law at the highest level in Southern California for nearly 15 years. He works alongside renowned criminal defense attorneys Alison Triessl and Robert Sheahen, and together they have set the standard for full-service elite legal defense. Ryan Kerns a current board member of the Criminal Courts Bar Association, the largest criminal defense bar in the United States.

He graduated from UC Berkeley with honors in 2007, before attending UCLA School of Law. In 2011, Ryan received his J.D. from UCLA, passed the California Bar Exam, and began practicing law in Los Angeles, California.

Ryan has successfully represented clients in homicide cases throughout California from San Diego County to Siskiyou County, with his primary practice in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. He has extensive experience in both federal and state criminal matters, including homicides, sexual assault, domestic violence, white collar and financial crimes.

He has also served as a legal expert on television and radio, including appearances on CNN and local Fox, NBC, and ABC affiliates, as well as regular appearances on KTLA in Los Angeles.

In addition to his criminal practice, Ryan Kerns has represented music companies, artists, bands, creatives, film and television investors, and music festivals in California, including negotiations with financial institutions and film studios such as Netflix.

In 2015, Ryan and his brother Andrew partnered with Psycho Entertainment, LLP (“Psycho”) as in-house counsel as Psycho prepared for a significant expansion of their brand, including the launching of their flagship Psycho Las Vegas Music Festival at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in 2016. The ninth (9) annual Psycho Las Vegas event was held August 15-18, 2022. Since 2015, Ryan has provided consistent high-level legal services to a wide variety of musicians, artists, and other entertainment-industry professionals, including drafting performance contracts for major music festivals and tours, preparing visa applications and other immigration services (including appeals) for international artists, applying for and renewing intellectual property protections (e.g. trademark, copyright, patent, etc.), consulting and drafting documents for business formations (e.g. corporate structuring, partnership agreements, LLCs, etc.), and consulting with business and promotional teams regarding all aspects of music festivals and events, including licensing, copyright, trademark, distribution, merchandising, and insurance. In 2019, Ryan and Andrew opened their own independent law firm, Kerns Law Group, LLP, that has allowed them to expand their legal practice in order to serve a wider variety of clients across the globe.

Ryan helped develop the popular trial streaming service Wild About Trial, growing the company from the ground up, and building it into the largest active trial streaming service at the time and a market changer for legal streaming services.

As a highly motivated young attorney Ryan started working at the Tamin Law Firm, led by founder Alex Tamin, who is currently the director of baseball operations for Major League Baseball’s Atlanta Braves. The firm represented professional baseball teams and navigated the intricate rules, transactions paperwork, and advance scouting as they related to salary contract arbitration for players under MLB’s arbitration eligibility structure.
